Early Life
Born Montero Lamar Hill in a large household of seven children, he had to fight for attention from an early age. His parents divorced before he even started going to school, and he spent some time with his mother before going off to live with his father. He played the trumpet for a while in school and spent his freshman year at the University of West Georgia, before quitting to pursue a career in rap music.
He worked at a few different jobs in the fast-food industry while living with his older sister before he got his major break on the rap scene.
Career
It all started in May 2018, with his song Shame, and the single Carry On a few months later. After signing for Columbia Records, the now viral Old Town Road came out, with a cinematic video featuring Billy Ray Cyrus and Chris Rock. He released 7, his debut EP in June 2019.

In the News
The biggest news surrounding the young rapper was him coming out as gay recently. He first teased the news with a tweet in June 2019, in which he urged fans to listen more closely to the lyrics of his song C7osure, where he had a secret message for them.
He ended the tweet with a rainbow. He appeared on the Ellen Show in September and talked openly about his sexuality, saying that he was “somewhat” in a relationship.
