The trio comes from Lawrenceville, Georgia. Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff came together to create and produce trap music. The group is credited with making the known dance move, the dab, a worldwide sensation.
The two cousins of the trio are Quavious Marshall (Quavo) and Kiari Cephus (Offset). Kirshnik Ball (Takeoff) is Quavo’s nephew. All three of them were born and raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia. They grew up together and were raised by their mothers.
Quavo and Takeoff expressed their interest in rap music very early. They even started rapping as young boys while still in eighth grade. Quavo joined the two after a little bit of convincing, and in 2009, the trio began performing under the name of Polo Club.
It wasn’t long until the band changed the name to Migos. In 2011, Migos released a debut mixtape “Juug Season” online. Their strong bond allowed them to record strong verses and create a unique tone in their music.
Their first hit, Bando, was released in 2012. Versace followed in 2013 and finally, in 2015, Migos signed a deal with independent label Quality Control Music and released debut album Yung Rich Nation. From that point on, the trio became a viral sensation collaboration with Drake, Katy Perry, Gucci Mane, DJ Khaled, and many others.
