Early Life
Rotimi, aka Olurotimi Akinosho, was born on November 30th, 1988, to Nigerian Parents. His father is of the Yoruba descent and works as an investment banker, while his mother is of Igbo descent and works for the government. Rotimi was born in Maplewood, New Jersey, so he holds both American and Nigerian citizenship.
Rotimi likes to keep his private life just that – private. Although he’s very close to his parents, he doesn’t like sharing too much information about them. He still likes to share pictures with them on social media, and he’s stated that he’s proud of his Nigerian descent.
Attending Columbia High School, Rotimi was on the varsity basketball team and in the honors choir. Before he rose to fame, he attended Northwestern University, where he got his bachelor’s degree in Communication.
Career
When he started acting, Rotimi’s raw talent was immediately obvious. He landed a job right after his first audition. His first-ever acting role was as Darius Morrison on Starz’ Boss.
His big-screen debut was with the movie Black Nativity from 2013, and in 2014 he starred in Imperial Dreams. That same year he was cast as Ezra in the movie Divergent.
Currently, he stars as Andre Coleman in the TV series Power, which is produced by 50 Cent.
As far as his music career is concerned, Rotimi’s released two mixtapes, The Resume and While You Wait. He’s signed to 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records, and in 2017 he released his debut EP Jeep Music Vol. 1.

In the News
While you might be expecting that Vanessa’s ex-boyfriend Juma Jux would be causing her and Rotimi some troubles, the three have been hitting the news in quite the opposite manner.
Jux stated that he and Vanessa broke up in 2018 and that he’s happy that she’s found love with Rotimi. He’s even said that he’s a big fan of the series Power where Rotimi stars.
