Early Life
Tank, who also goes by his birth name Durrell Babbs, was born on January 1st, 1976, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. However, when he was very young, he and his parents moved to Washington, D.C., where he spent most of his childhood.
In his youth, he had a thing for sports and was a talented multi-sport athlete. So gifted, in fact, that he even had the chance to play college football, but he had other plans. Ever since he was a child, he had a keen interest in music. He sang at his local church, where he developed his vocal abilities, and eventually, he decided to pursue a career in the music industry.
Career
Whether it was fate or just pure luck, Tank quickly got the attention of the well-known Ginuwine who invited him to be a background vocalist during his tour.
After the tour, Tank started to release his own music. In 2001, Tank released his debut album, Force of Nature. His songs Maybe I Deserve and Slowly were hits. He’s released several other successful albums so far, but lately has been focusing more on his songwriting career.
He has collaborated with artists such as Chris Brown, Drake, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Pitbull, Jamie Foxx, and many others.
As far as his acting career goes, he’s appeared in the musical Dreamgirls, the movie Preacher’s Kid, and the series Born Again Virgin, The New Edition Story, and The Bobby Brown Story.
Tank Relationships: Who Has he Dated?
He seems to take his relationships very seriously, and he doesn’t mess around all that much. He briefly dated the singer Moniece Slaughter in 2013, but his best-known relationship is with Zena Foster.
Tank and Zena have had an on-again-off-again relationship since 2005, and they tied the knot in 2018. They have two children together and seem to be in a loving marriage.
