Tyga - The Shade Room

Tyga

Tyga, a stage name that is an acronym for “Thank You God Always,” is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor known for his several rap hits, including “Rack City” or “Faded.”

Personal Life

Early Life

Tyga, born Michael Ray Stevenson, was born on November 19, 1989 in Compton, California. When he was around 11 or 12 years old, him and his family moved to Gardena. His mother is Vietnamese and his father is Jamaican.

While Tyga said he had grown up in a low income area, leaked footage showed Tyga saying that he grew up in a nice home and that his parents drove a Range Rover. This drew some skepticism from fans on which was the truth about Tyga’s childhood.

Relationships

Tyga has been in relationships with several celebrity women. Tyga first started dating Blac Chyna in 2011 during the music video shoot of his song “Rack City”. The two dated for three years and have a son together named King. During their breakup in 2014, things got messy. Allegedly, Tyga hacked Blac Chyna’s Instagram and Twitter, as tweets were sent out from Blac Chyna’s socials saying that “she was a gold digger” and “never really loved Tyga.” Their feud went on for a while and the two both ended up dating somebody in the Kardashian-Jenner clan. More of the drama between Chyna, Tyga, and the Kardashian-Jenner family is seen on the show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Tyga also has famously dated Kylie Jenner. In 2014, Tyga appeared in some of TV personality Kylie Jenner’s Instagram photos. Many have speculated that Tyga and Blac Chyna’s relationship ended because of Kylie, but Tyga quickly shut those rumors down in a tweet. For a while, Kylie and Tyga shut down the rumors that they were dating. However, the two confirmed their relationship when she turned 18 in 2015. Tyga and Kylie’s relationship has caused some controversy, due to the fact that they most likely dated when she was under age.

Tyga was most recently romantically connected with a mysterious Kylie Jenner look-alike.

Run-ins With The Law

Tyga is no stranger to run-ins with the law. In 2012, two women in Tyga’s “Make It Nasty” video sued the rapper for $10 million dollars each. The women claimed he had published an unedited version showing the women’s nipples without their consent. In 2013, Tyga was also sued by another woman for sexual battery, fraud, and infliction of emotional distress.

Also in 2013, a Beverly Hills-based jeweler sued Tyga for not paying for $91,000 worth of his jewelry. Tyga ended up paying $185,306 in damages due to the cost of the pieces and late fees.

In June of 2015, Tyga was ordered by a judge to pay a settlement of $80,000 to his former landlord, since Tyga has never paid his debt on the home.

Career

Tyga started out his music career by releasing mixtapes. His first mixtape, Young on Probation, impressed artist Travie McCoy, who then offered Tyga a record deal with DCD2 Records. In 2008, Tyga signed a deal with Young Money Entertainment, a record company that represents other big rappers, like Nicki Minaj and Drake. Since then, Tyga has come out with 7 studio albums.
