Whew! Chadwick Boseman’s Brothers Ask Judge To Remove His Widow As Estate Administrator

Nearly six years after his death, the loved ones of Chadwick Boseman are on opposing sides over his estate. The actor’s brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, want to boot his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, as estate administrator. And they’ve already petitioned the court to rule in their favor and hold their sister-in-law in contempt.

Taylor Simone Ledward-Boseman Serves As Estate Administrator

According to PEOPLE, Taylor and Chadwick Boseman married in 2020. Six days after tying the knot, the ‘Wakanda’ star died after a private battle with cancer. He passed away without a will, entitling his wife to 50% of his estate. However, in 2022, the court issued a ‘Final Order’ that required her to distribute assets.

Chadwick Boseman’s Brothers File Petition Against His Widow

Court documents, as cited by PEOPLE, claim Taylor is not distributing her late husband’s estate. Allegedly, the widow was meant to hand over 25% of Chadwick Boseman’s estate to his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. The mother was also to receive a $40,000 Life Long-Term Care Policy that she didn’t.

However, Taylor allegedly hasn’t handed over everything her in-laws are entitled to or sought their input regarding his estate, according to her brothers-in-law. Derrick and Kevin Boseman allege Taylor is making it hard to find closure, especially by denying their parents to make decisions in their son’s estate. Furthermore, they claim Chadwick Boseman’s estate has additional assets beyond the previously reviewed bank accounts and $40,000 check. The brothers listed “royalties and residuals, image and intellectual property rights, real property, a previously undisclosed bank account and other personal property.”

Derrick and Kevin Boseman say Taylor practiced a lack of transparency, sparking the appearance “that she is concealing assets from Decedent’s family and from the Court.” So far, the brothers allege, Taylor has positioned herself to be the only person who is continuing to profit from Chadwick Boseman’s fame. Additionally, the brothers say the widow has blocked opportunities that could financially benefit her late husband’s parents.

What Happens Next?

Chadwick Boseman’s widow has not publicly responded to the filing. Her brothers-in-law are asking the court to replace her with a private fiduciary and forensic accountant named Jason Rubin.
