Lessons Learned? Mustard’s Ex-Wife, Chanel Thierry, Sparks Debate About Pregnancy Before Marriage

Chanel Thierry isn’t looking for the past to repeat itself. She recently took to social media with a lessons-learned story about popping out with a baby before a ring. For context, Thierry is a divorcee after splitting from DJ Mustard, the father of her three children.

Here’s What Chanel Thierry Said About Pregnancy Before Marriage

Mustard and Thierry dated as boyfriend-girlfriend for about a decade and welcomed two sons and a daughter during that time. They got married in Oct. 2020, but the producer filed for divorce less than two years later. This past summer, he welcomed his fourth child overall and first with his girlfriend, Brittany Stroud.

Chanel shared her messages on the topic via Meta’s platform, Threads. The 32-year-old explained that at her age, she’s not looking to spin the parenthood block a fourth time without marriage.

“At this big grown age of almost being 33, you will see me pop out with a ring before a baby. I wouldn’t make the same mistake I did at 19 at this big age. Learn and [grow],” she wrote.

In a follow-up post, she wrote,“I always give wife, neva BM.”

Social Media Reacts & Chanel Clears The Air

After The Shade Room reposted Chanel’s Threads post on Instagram, the roommates began sounding off. In the reactions, IG users debated whether Theirry was being shady toward Mustard’s girlfriend or throwing stones from a glass house. Others stepped in to praise her newfound perspective.

“Stop throwing shade at the other BM you’re still a BM love,”@sip_wayne wrote.

@wigginit wrote, “Facts! Never understood being a baby mama twice!”

@divakamilah chimed in with, “She was a bby mama longer than a wife.”

@therealnuffced added, “I actually respect that this woman prefers to be somebody’s wife first before having another kid. That’s respectable. How yall women mad at that?”

“There’s a whole lotta MARRIED SINGLE PARENTS out there too lmao,” @_brownskinned_love wrote.

@_brown_london expressed something similar, writing, “A ring before a child doesnt solidify a thing honestly its all about what kind of man you are having a baby by you can be a married single mother i see it everyday.”

Ultimately, Thierry also slid into the comment section with more clarity on her viewpoint regarding pregnancy and marriage.

“I spoke on a standard I have and lesson I learned. This has to do with me and me only. If I wrote I rather have every mans baby before marriage it would be tons said Ÿ™„ so I rather tons said behind a standard I fully believe in. Im a testimony that a ring doesnt guarantee anything but Im also smart enough to not make the same mistake twice,” Chanel wrote.

Mustard nor his second co-parent seem to be paying Chanel Thierry any mind online. The father announced the arrival of his fourth, a daughter named Bebe McFarlane, in July at his album listening party.
