Chingy is setting the record straight after social media users began questioning the relationship between the rapper and his son, Isaiah Russell-Bailey. After a recent clip sparked conversation online, the speculation quickly grewand Chingy has now decided to address what people may have gotten wrong.
Chingy is making one thing clear about his relationship with his son, Isaiah, amid the conversation happening online. Speaking exclusively to Hollywood Unlocked, the rapper said he typically doesnt address internet narratives, especially when it comes to his family. However, he felt it was important to speak up after speculation about his relationship with Isaiah began to make the rounds.
Chingy explained that his support for his son doesnt always happen publicly. The rapper says he wants his son to have the freedom to establish his own identity and career. He doesnt want Isaiah to feel like he has to live in the shadow of his famous father. According to the rapper, hell always be there to offer advice and guidance whenever Isaiah needs it. At the same time, he wants his son to have the space to build something that is uniquely his own.
I normally dont address narratives on the internet, especially when it comes to my family. But when my relationship with my son gets spoken on, Ill say this: Isaiah knows the relationship he and I have. He knows the love I have for him, Chingy claimed. Everything a father does for his child isnt posted for the world to see. And when it comes to his career, I want him to build something that belongs to himnot live in my shadow. Ill always be there to give him game, support him and help him navigate when he needs me.He also said, Im proud of my son, I love my son, and I dont need social media to validate that. The people who actually matter know what it is. I wish him nothing but success.
This comes shortly after Chingy appeared to clap back at commenters who began questioning his relationship with Isaiah in the comments. One person asked whether Isaiah Russell-Bailey even knows Chingy is his father, prompting the rapper to respond:
Haha he does but manipulation am using kids for checks is a thing.
Chingy also responded to another commenter who complimented his appearance while referencing his children. He wrote, Jus 4 not mad. His responses come as social media continues to dissect the father-son dynamic, particularly after Isaiah, who is known for his roles in Family Reunion and A Million Little Things, shared a post honoring his mother.
