Here’s Why Chris Brown Reportedly Has A $500M Defamation Lawsuit Against Warner Bros. For ‘Chris Brown: A History of Violence’

On Tuesday, January 21, TMZ published an exclusive report asserting that Brown is suing the entities for “promoting and publishing defamatory claims against him” with Investigation Discovery’s docuseries, ‘Chris Brown: A History of Violence.’

Furthermore, Brown is reportedly alleging the entities disseminated the defamatory statements “even after allegedly being provided with” ‘evidence that the claims were false. Per TMZ, Brown has asserted that the alleged victim at the center of the docuseries, reportedly referred to as Jane Doe, has “been repeatedly discredited.” The singer reportedly noted that a lawsuit Doe previously filed against him had been found baseless.

Additionally, he has stated that the docuseries centers on labeling him “a serial rapist and a sexual abuser.” However, he’s never been found guilty “of any sex-related crime.”

Lastly, Brown has reportedly accused the entities of “pushing an old narrative in the name of fame and fortune.” He is reportedly seeking $500 million in damages as the docuseries reportedly impacted his “reputation, career, and business opportunities.” Page Six notes that the docuseries was released in October 2024.

If the suit is awarded in Brown’s favor, he has reportedly pledged to donate the proceedings to victims of sexual abuse.
