Chris Rock Makes Will Smith Joke After Dave Chappelle Was Attacked On Stage

I guess it really is “run up, get done up!” Dave Chappelle was joined by two of his comedy friends, Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock, after he was tackled by a man during his set at the Netflix Is A Joke Festival on Tuesday night. After the man–identified as 23-year-old Isaiah Lee–was physically removed from the stage, the jokes started to write themselves!

According to Chappelle, Jamie Foxx was ready for the smoke! He reportedly hopped on stage and helped fight off the man. Foxx, however, was under the impression that the tackle was part of the show.

I thought that was part of the show. I’ve had an incredible time. This man is an absolute genius. We’ve got to make sure we protect him at all times, man.”

Later on in the show, Chris Rock joined Dave Chappelle and referenced his own physical assault that happened on the night of the Oscars. Similarly to the incident that happened at Chappelle’s show, Chris Rock was on stage when a man walked up and put the paws on him!

Was that Will Smith?” Chris Rock jokingly said on stage.

It’s not unlike Rock to make light of serious situations, especially personal ones! As we previously reported, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face during the 2022 Oscars after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s bald hairstyle. The incident resulted in Smith resigning from the academy, which banned him from all events for 10 years.

As for Chappelle’s attacker Isaiah Lee, he was booked and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after being discharged from a local hospital. Footage of the incident shows Lee was beat up pretty bad after Dave Chappelle’s security got a hold of him. Authorities say he was holding a replica handgun with a blade inside of it.
