Oop! Claressa Shields is sharing more choice words for Laila Ali, calling her “scared, old, and bitter,” after Ali declared she won’t be coming out of retirement to step in the ring with her.
On Thursday, October 30, Ali released a twenty-six-minute YouTube video dropping “receipts and documented evidence” to show that Shields’ claim that Ali “would come out of retirement for a $15 million fight offer… was false and taken out of context.”
About seventeen minutes into the video, Ali shared whether Shields made her “mad enough” to jump out of retirement and into the ring with her.
“Absolutely not. After years of blatant lies and vile disrespect, making unsolicited negative remarks about me, questioning the legitimacy of my boxing legacy, and having the audacity to cross the line by disrespecting my deceased father, trying to use his name to discredit his daughter… she will not be rewarded with the opportunity to share the ring with me or anything else,” Ali stated.
Shields apparently caught wind of Ali’s video and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday, calling Ali “scared, old & bitter.”
On Friday, October 31, Shields returned to the platform, writing, “Yall be fooled by anything ‘I wont Reward her with a fight’ how are you Rewarding me by supposedly knocking me Out… being knocked out is not a reward. All that bark with no bite ‘we all know she cant bust a grape’ But you dont want to get hit by me though”
Social media users entered TSR’s comment section, weighing in on Laila Ali and Claressa Shields’ ongoing exchange.
While Instagram user @arlenecharles_blackgoldbundles added, “Respect goes a long way , you can miss your blessing by being disrespectful!”
As The Shade Room previously reported, in July, Laila Ali appeared to note that she would possibly jump into the ring with Claressa Shields for a $15-20 million payday.
Shields allegedly secured the bag. But Ali made it clear that she wasn’t moving on anyone’s time, but her own, per The Shade Room.
In August, Shields taunted Ali over her offer’s perceived rejection, per The Shade Room. And since then, the pair have been going back and forth, dropping receipts on their relationship and each other’s perceived clout-chasing.
