In a now-deleted fiery post shared on May 22, Shields called out Jake Paul and MVP, accusing them of hypocrisy while revisiting past moments she believes were conveniently ignored. She pushed back on claims circulating online, specifically denying accusations that she mocked anyones medical condition, and instead pointed to Pauls past commentary about her MMA loss while she was dealing with a concussion and recent medical treatment.
Shields also referenced her 2021 MMA fight, saying she competed shortly after having stitches removed and felt unfairly criticized for the outcome. She also questioned MVPs branding around womens boxing, criticized how the organization promotes and labels fighters, and threw shots at Jake Pauls boxing record and public persona.
“Why people lying on me saying I made fun of someone who had a brain bleed, let’s talk about [Jake Paul] celebrating me losing a split decision mma fight while I had a concussion fighting! literally had 8 stitches taken out of my head 2 weeks before this fight! How soon do we forget! And not Jake Paul Calling one of his fighters the GWOAT take the heels off Jake! I love karma too. That’s why [Anthony Joshua] Wired your Jaw KARMA!!!,” Shields shared via X.
The controversy comes just days after Shields was banned indefinitely from MVP events following a heated confrontation with Alycia Baumgardner at MVP MMA 1 in Las Vegas. Footage showed the two champions exchanging words before Shields reached over and slapped Baumgardner. Then, the escalating tension quickly went viral online and sparked a wave of reactions across the combat sports community.
Following the incident, MVP issued the ban and made it clear they would not tolerate physical altercations outside the ring. Meanwhile, Baumgardner accused Shields of assaulting her without provocation and signaled plans to pursue possible legal action. While Shields doubled down online, denying that narrative and insisting the situation escalated after verbal exchanges and ongoing disrespect.
