Claressa Shields is clapping back at those calling Papoose her “first boyfriend” while doubling down on her previous comments about hopping in the ring with Laila Ali.
On Tuesday, July 15, Shields appeared to be on X, formerly known as Twitter, checking in on mentions of her name. Shortly before noon, Shields replied to a user who said she’ll likely knock Ali out “unless they pull a Jake Paul and Mike Tyson and play in our faces…” From there, the user added that she doesn’t think Shields knows how to “play fight,” so their matchup should end with Shields “humb[ling]” Ali.
Furthermore, Shields peeped the tweet and responded that she doesn’t play fight with anybody, in part. Then, a few minutes later, she shared more thoughts about Ali.
“…I been telling her if she want to prove she so much better skilled than me and got so much power come do it. Dont start copping pleas now!” she wrote, in part.
However, Shields’ words didn’t end there. At that point, she then noted that her “passion… bother[s] miserable mfs!” and addressed those calling Pap her “first boyfriend.”
“Im passionate about my relationship yall yell ‘its giving first boyfriend’ Im passionate about boxing, my actual career and yall yell ‘omg she so loud! She so angry’ my passion bothers yall!” she added.
Before stepping away from her keyboard, Shields then shared a final response to a user comparing Tyson v. Paul to her and Ali potentially stepping in the ring.

Social media users immediately hopped into The Shade Room’s comment section to continue the conversation around Claressa Shields and Laila Ali.
As The Shade Room previously reported, footage recently surfaced of Laila Ali being asked if she’d come out of retirement to hop in the ring with Claressa Shields. In turn, Ali explained that she’d be down but only if a $15-20 million bag was coming her way.
Meanwhile, Shields didn’t hold back on sharing her excitement at a potential match-up with Ali. Furthermore, she took to X to declare herself the “greatest now.”
“You know Ive been wanting to make you eat your words! You not a better boxer than me & at 175 Ill put you on your back!” she added in part at the time, directing her spicy words at Ali.
