DaniLeigh Goes On Twitter Rant To Address Backlash From Her New Song ‘Yellow Bone’

Just when it seemed like the controversy around DaniLeigh’s “Yellow Bone” song calmed down, the mother of DaBaby’s children MeMe seemingly added her two cents to the trending topic. MeMe expressed herself throughout her Instagram story sharing a gif of a yellow bird and writing the message, “Lmfaooo I’m gone. I ain’t gone doooooo it.” She continued by plugging her new music and telling fans to” Swipe up for some real playa s**t” as she previewed an upcoming song.

Shortly after, Dani began a Twitter rant to continue to address the backlash. In a series of tweets, she wrote, “Ima keep letting God bless me… While ya’ll sit back and judge me, and sit behind ya’ll lil phones and type s**t about another woman. Y’all all haters.”

She continued tweeting, “Congratulations, y’all gotta another thing to say about me, when you hate … It’s all good ..  Only God can “cancel” me… That s**t don’t mean s**t to me because the people around me are the ones that know my heart and intention and real-life … I’m sorry if I offended you.”

Dani further gave a breakdown of her ethnicity in a now-deleted tweet, “I’m Dominican… I’m Spanish. I’m Black. I’m white… leave me alone. “ She ended her rant by saying she was done talking for the day.

Dani was definitely referring to her fair skin tone in the song, and many people did not take kindly to the lyrics. One user on Twitter commented, “DaniLeigh lost me with that “Yellow Bone” song. Y’all still making songs that enforce colorism and fetishization of light-skinned people in 2021? Being Light Skinned is NOT a personality trait, and sad to say, it’s honestly all some of y’all got, which is tragic. #DoBetter”
