Things in quiet Batavia, Illinois, just took a shocking turn. David Hanson, the once beloved man behind Hanson Family Chiropractic, faces allegations straight out of a nightmare scenario. What started as a seemingly normal visit to a neighborhood chiropractor has authorities combing through decades of hidden footage, uncovering alleged secret recordings of patients as they undressed.
According to Kane County prosecutors, David Hanson is accused of allegedly secretly filming over 180 patients, mostly female, ranging from children to adults. The videos were purportedly captured using hidden cameras placed throughout his clinic, including in a red light therapy room. Authorities say David Hanson not only recorded patients without their consent but also possessed and disseminated child sexual abuse material unrelated to his practice. Kane County States Attorney Jaime Mosser told NBC Chicago that Hanson “knew he was doing wrong” and “he knew how to hide it.“
“Thats not a person we want in our community.” Mosser also added, “Someone like this, who has no concern for the people hes supposed to help, cant be trusted in our community.
Hanson, a Batavia native, once marketed himself as Kane Countys best chiropractor on his website, which is now defunct. Furthermore, the site claimed certifications in pediatrics and prenatal care techniques. But those accolades now contrast sharply with the serious charges he faces. Charges include producing, possessing, and distributing child pornography, as well as unauthorized recording of minors. His home and clinic at 1928 West Wilson Street were searched on Wednesday, and he was arrested later that night.
Authorities are still searching for additional potential victims who may have visited Hansons office over the years. Hanson appeared in court on Thursday and was ordered detained, with his next hearing set for Nov. 10. His clinic has not responded to inquiries, leaving the community in shock as more details continue to unfold.
