D.L. Hughley Sounds Off On Mo’Nique For Addressing Their Past Contract Dispute (Video)

D.L. Hughley’s long-standing feud with Mo’Nique continues as he addressed her comments about him in a new interview.

As previously reported, the ‘Precious’ star sat down for a conversation on Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ show on Wednesday (February 7).

Mo’Nique And D.L. Hughley Have Not Been On Good Terms In Years

And while she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, Hughley was less than impressed by what she said about him.

Sharpe felt inclined to get to the bottom of the pair’s falling out in 2022 following an alleged contract dispute.

The pair were both expected to perform at KIIS FM’s The Comedy Explosion during Memorial Day weekend in Detroit. But Hughley later refused to give a stand-up show unless Mo’Nique was removed as the headliner who would close the stand-up gig.

This disagreement over the order of performances led to a heated exchange between the two.

D.L. Hughley Responds To Mo’Nique

But two years later, Hughley remains adamant that he was supposed to have been the headlining act.

And if the memo wasn’t going to prove it, perhaps his name being in front of Mo’Nique’s on the tickets would.

“Look at the ticket. It says D.L. Hughley, and then says Mo’Nique. She knows the story, but what she did in response to that…” he said before pausing.

“…She talked about my dog, my wife… this broad even brought up my daughter’s trauma. My daughter was molested and Mo’Nique brought that sh** up and told the world that I allowed my daughter to be raped in front of me.”

Hughley was referring to his daughter, Ryan Nicole Shepard, who Mo’Nique brought into the mix of their feud.

The former talk show host questioned why Hughley had no problem calling out other comedians, but “he won’t call out the name of the person that violated his daughter.”

Mo’Nique later apologized, saying she was “a woman of honor” and could acknowledge that if “I can f*** it up, I’ve got to fix it up,” per Vibe.

But in his response video, Hughley alleges that while Mo’Nique feels she can talk about other people’s families, he questioned why she never tends to show her children in public.

“How do you have sweet babies, when your own babies don’t f**k with you?” he asked.

The comedian claimed that wherever Mo’Nique goes, more drama ensues, strongly implying that while she complains about others, she might be the problem.

“Look at my schedule versus yours. See how much I’m going. And I still manage to have a relationship that I cherish with my children. Can you say the same? You can’t.”

What Did Mo’Nique Say About Hughley During The Contract Dispute?

Mo’Nique had blasted Hughley on social media, stating that her contractual agreement with the event organizers listed her as the headliner.

In support of his argument, however, Hughley showed a deal memo he had signed before the event. He shared it on social media to prove he was the headliner.

During her interview with Sharpe, however, Mo’Nique explained that signing a memo differed from signing a contract.

“The memo is saying this is what I like, but the contract says this is what it is. He put out a memo to our community, and that touched me a little different because I was saying, ‘Why would you lie to our babies.’ Because now they’re thinking if they sign a memo, that’s what they’re supposed to get.”

Mo’Nique told Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ that Hughley didn’t show up until 9:30 pm on the night of the event. The show started at 8 pm.

“Now, contractually, I said I had to be on stage by 9:30 because if the show starts at 8, I refuse to keep an audience waiting. It’s disrespectful to our audience.”

Mo’Nique ended up getting to perform her set last, and the two haven’t seen eye-to-eye ever since.
