At this point in his presidency, practically nothing that Donald Trump does is surprising anymoreespecially his public meltdowns during interviews with the media. In his latest heated exchange with the press, Trump got so upset with a reporter that he referred to him as a loudmouth and threatened to leave the entire press conference if he continued to question him.
Earlier this week, during the routine White House coronavirus press conference, Donald Trump and reporter Brian Karem had an intense back-and-forth due to Trump being upset with Karems rapid fire questions concerning the reopening of the economy amid the coronavirus outbreak.
During the press briefing, Trump called on Karem, who attempted to get through his question, which included asking about the numbers of deaths and infections from the COVID-19 disease, and tried to ask Trump about his influence over people who dont want to follow social distancing guidelines. However, he was never allowed to finish because he kept being cut off by Trump, who proceeded to scold him like a child, complete with rapid fire finger-wagging.
The intense exchange between the two went like this:
Karem: Today: 600,000 cases, 25,000 deaths. I know you want to bring blame the WHO, but Ive spoken to hundreds of people across the country in the last few weeks who say they still cant get tested and that they arent social distancing because they saw
Trump: So the governors
Karem: Wait wait a minute. Let me finish.
Trump: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Karem: So they arent
Trump: Excuse me. Excuse me. I know I know your question. You ready?
Karem: Well, no, you dont. No
Trump: The governors the governors are supposed to do testing. Its up to the governors.
Karem: Thats not the question. Wait a minute, Mr. President. Thats not the question.
Trump: Go ahead please.
Karem: The question the question was
Trump: Quiet. Quiet.
Karem: The question, Mr. President
Trump: Quiet.
Karem: The question is
Karem: They say that they are not that they are following your lead, that they are not social distancing.
Trump: The governors are doing the testing. Its now not up and it hasnt been up
to the federal government. Go ahead.
Karem: Thats not what Im asking. The question is about social distancing, sir.
Karem: The question is if
Trump: I told them when they put this guy here, its nothing but trouble. Hes a showboat.
Karem: Im just trying to ask you a question.
Trump: If you keep talking, Ill leave
Karem: Im just trying to ask a question.
Trump: And you can have it out with the rest of these people.
Karem: Im just trying to ask a question. Im just
Trump: If you keep talking, Im going to leave and you can have it out with them.
Karem: Its a simple question.
Trump: Just a loudmouth.
The fact that this an actual exchange involving the POTUS during a worldwide crisis is jaw-dropping.
