Face Mask With Image Of George Floyd’s Final Moments Has Been Removed From Amazon

In the midst of the uprising in America, someone thought it would be a good idea to create a face mask of George Floyd, the Black man who was killed in Minneapolis, while in police custody, using his final moments as the design, and selling it on Amazon.

Circled in red, you’re able to see ex-officer Derek Chauvin with his knee on Floyd’s neck. Behind him is the paramedic that came to assist, during the time of the incident. It’s not certain how long the mask was  available, but it appears the first review was left June 4th.

Some of the reviews pointed out that this was done in poor taste and is just another form of racism.

“You don’t deserve no d-n stars for this product,” the Amazon customer wrote. “It promotes racism…and I’m completely disgusted about this mask even being sold. You should be ashamed of yourself for disrespecting the family of George Floyd.”

Another Amazon customer wrote, “Why would you make this mask? He was already deceased in this picture.” This is very disrespectful to the family” the customer added. “No one wants to see this. You are trying to make money off an innocent person’s death.”

George Floyd’s death has prompted public outrage and has inspired all 50 states and reportedly 18 countries to march to end police brutality, while eradicating racism.

Many are also calling to stop funding the police and find other ways to use the money. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has already said he plans to cut the LAPD budget by up to $150 million, and that money will be reinvested into communities of color and women.
