It is no secret that Chance The Rapper definitely puts on for the city of Chicago. Earlier this year he received tons of praise for his $1 million donation to Chicago Public Schools.

Now it looks like some fans are encouraging Chance to become the next major of Chicago in 2019.

According to XXL, on Chance’s 2015 track, “Somewhere In Paradise,” he rapped, “They say I’m saving my city, say I’m stayin’ for good/They screamin’ Chano for mayor, I’m thinkin’ maybe I should.”

All of which has led to his fans starting the “Chanco For Mayor,” campaign.

On the official website it reads, “Rahm Emanuel has been in office since 2011. In that time we’ve seen the closure of 50 public schools, the largest in history. The city shut down 6 of its 12 mental health clinics. The Department of Justice found a pattern of civil rights violations by the Chicago Police Department, including but not limited to the murder of Laquan McDonald. It’s time for change.”

Bea Malsky, who is involved with the website talked to The Chicago-Sun Times on why Chance would be a great mayor.

She said, “We would be very happy if he ran. We would be very happy if he’d become more politically involved and he endorsed a candidate who stands up for the same things that he stands up for in his music.”

Malsky noted that she and three of her friends have been working on the website weeks prior to his $1 million public school donation, but the announcement made them more excited to launch the website.

On the website, they make it very clear that Chance The Rapper has no involvement with their campaign.
