Father & Son Describe Whale Incident In Chile

According to CBS News, the whale incident happened last weekend off the Chilean Patagonia. More specifically, Adrin and Dell were kayaking in the Baha El guila in the Strait of Magellan. The outlet noted that the father and son were near the San Isidro Lighthouse inside of individual kayaks. Dell was filming his son, who was paddling in his direction, when the humpback whale appeared suddenly and pulled Adrin and the kayak underwater.

A few seconds later, the 24-year-old and his boat reappeared. The father, who hadn’t shared a verbal reaction, called out to his son in Spanish, encouraging him to calmly grab the kayak and swim over. At that point, the humpback whale was still nearby but didn’t further harm Adrin or Dell.

“…I thought he had already eaten and swallowed me,” Adrin said in a press interview. “But I thought it was a killer whale. We had been speaking about killer whales shortly before, so that was on my mind. But when I was out, I understood that curiosity or a desire to communicate something was probably why the whale got close to me.”

The 24-year-old added that at first when he believed he had died, he was terrified. “When I turned around, I felt on my face like a slimy texture; I saw colors like dark blue, white, something approaching from behind that closed and sank me, at that moment, I thought there was nothing I could do, that I was going to die, I didnt know what it was,” he added.

After the whale released him, Adrin said he became scared for his dad and that they wouldn’t get to shore on time or that he’d die from hypothermia. Eventually, though, he reached his dad’s kayak, and they both got back to shore unharmed. Additionally, Adrin didn’t suffer any injuries from his brief time inside the animal’s massive mouth.

Still, the video is going NUTS on social media for its shock value! See it for yourself below.
