Fans are heartbroken after hearing that reality star and viral Providence, Rhode Island municipal Judge Frank Caprio has passed away at the age of 88. PEOPLE reports that Caprio, known for his iconic and charismatic courtroom moments, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.
On Wednesday, August 20, Judge Frank Caprio’s official Instagram account confirmed his death, leaving fans on social media devastated. The post featured a photo of him in the courtroom and revealed in the caption that he passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. The caption also honored him as not only a respected judge but also a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
“Beloved for his compassion, humility, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people, Judge Caprio touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the countless acts of kindness he inspired,” the caption stated.
PEOPLE notes that Caprio revealed his pancreatic cancer diagnosis in 2023. He shared an emotional video on Instagram, explaining that doctors gave him the news a month after his birthday in November. He said the birthday felt different because he didn’t feel well and needed a medication examination, which ultimately confirmed the cancer.
Fans know Judge Frank Caprio best for his show ‘Caught In Providence,’ where he showed compassion and empathy in the courtroom, creating viral moments across social media. ‘Caught In Providence’ was launched in 2000, and the show went national in 2018.
