Everette Taylor, the CEO of Kickstarter, is detailing his entrepreneurial journey coming up from the streets of the Southside of Richmond to now leading a global company. Over the years, Taylor has showcased the importance of being intentional and building teams for personal and business growth.
Now, Everette Taylor is letting ‘Never Stop’ viewers in on his story, from living out of his car to building a multi-million-dollar platform.
The episode kicks off with Everette Taylor reflecting on his roots in Southside Richmond, Virginia, and how it shaped his level of “grit” and motivation as an “underdog.”
“My senior year of high school, I was homeless. I lived out of my car a car that did not work, so it definitely got cold inside of it,” Taylor explained to viewers. “And that was a very humbling experience for me. But I took a lot of positives out of this.”
Through this experience, Taylor explained that he gained a lot of empathy and insight into the lives of others. Furthermore, he explained that it has even impacted how he leads as a CEO and entrepreneur.
Attending Virginia Tech for college, Taylor ultimately would drop out. However, this event would only give birth to his entrepreneurial journey. Taylor initially launched an events company, scaled his skills by working as an employee at other external companies, and ultimately landed a position as CEO at Kickstarter.
“Kickstarter is the largest global crowdfunding company in the world for creative projects,” Taylor explained. “… This is a place where people who have a creative idea and want to get it out there in the world can do so.
