A Georgia family is grieving from unimaginable loss after losing two loved ones in one month. Tasha Lawsondied just days after her 20-year-old son, TeeAndrick Lawson, suffered a brutal killing in a suspected hate crime attack.
According to the New York Post, Tasha died of heart complications at Waycross Hospital on April 13. She was 48 years old. Her family has since attributed her death to sheer heartbreak over the loss of her son just two weeks prior, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. The two were described as best friends who did everything together in a GoFundMe to support Tasha’s funeral costs. Additionally, the fundraiser mentioned the impact TeeAndricks death had on his mom, stating, The pain of losing her son was too much for her heart to bear.
I cant wake him up as I go to the store with me, I cant do none of that. He just didnt deserve what they done to him. [] And the ones that did it, I got along with yall. Yall came to my house. Yall ate my food. Yall did all that, but then come do this to my boy?
TeeAndrick was home alone when two men allegedly broke into his familys house and confronted him. When TeeAndricks brother couldnt get a hold of him after multiple unanswered calls, he went to check on him and found his lifeless body in his bedroom.
According to WTOC, TeeAndrick died from his gruesome injuries. As of now, the police havent made a single arrest in connection with his death. The family has claimed the attack was a hate crime, stating TeeAndricks killers targeted him because of his sexuality. They also appear to have suspicions that the people responsible for his death may not be strangers to their family. “He thought he was safe, and he was not safe. And for it to be people that’s literally right across the road, like, I can’t,” Terreona said. “Everybody accepted him but the men who couldn’t accept themselves.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is still digging into the case and hasnt officially labeled the case a hate crime yet.
