Roomies, Gizelle Bryant is chiming in on her ex-husband, Pastor Jamal Bryant’s new wife, Karri Bryant’s viral “flesh-colored” dress. If y’all recall, Karri sent the internet into a tizzy when she popped out at the 2025 UNCF Atlanta Mayor’s Masked Ball. Some folks thought she ate, while others said the look was a lil’ too spicy for the occasion. Either way, Pastor Jamal stood ten toes behind his wife’s fit and clocked all the shade. Now, Gizelle is weighing in and sharing how she felt about it.
Recently, a video showed Gizele and her ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ castmate Robyn Dixon speaking on the controversy over Karri Bryant’s Masked Ball dress. Robyn made it clear she saw no issue with the gown, and Gizelle backed her up quickly, saying, “It was fine.”But even with that, Gizelle still had some advice for her ex-husband. She felt he should’ve skipped feeding into the commentary because, as she put it, “that’s when you make it bigger than what it is.”
The ladies also agreed that Jamal could’ve picked a better time and place to address the chatter. They felt a Sunday church service wasn’t the move, with Gizelle adding that a Bible study probably would’ve been better. See the video of Gizelle Bryant’s full reaction here.
Karri finally addressed the backlash over her look when she appeared on ‘The Tamron Hall Show’ alongside Pastor Jamal. She made it real clear that when she steps out, she dresses for herself and her husband. “My ego is not that big. I dress for myself and my husband.” She continued, “I think that there is [this] idea that a woman can only be one thing.” From there, she flexed her credentials, reminding folks she wears many hats wife, doctor, and daughter, and she’s over people trying to box women into one lane. She also said that she understands that she’s taken on the role of being a Pastor’s wife and first lady, but that doesn’t define who she is.
“I define what the title is,” she noted.
As for Pastor Jamal Bryant, he wasn’t playing about the shade thrown at his wife at all. In videos from one of his church services, he clapped back at the critics and left zero crumbs. He called the trolls dragging Karri’s dress “insecure.” Then, he set the record straight, telling folks he was actually the one that purchased the dress, because he liked it.
But because you aint never been nowhere and aint never been exposed to nothing! I needed to set the record straight. I bought the dress. AND I like it! I dont care whether you like it or not. She aint married to yall,” he said.
