Google’s Black History Month Commercial Is A Hit On Social Media

Roommates, during last nights Grammy Awards, Google got an early start and debuted its Black History Month commercialand social media simply cant get enough of it. Featuring the best that #BlackExcellence has to offer, the commercial proves just how essential black people are to American history and culture.

The premise of the ad is showcasing all the most searched categorieswhich just so happen to be occupied all by black people. The most searched guitar solo is Princes from the 1984 movie Purple Rain, the most searched live performance is Beyoncs from the 2018 Super Bowl half-time show, the most searched EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner is John Legend and the most searched female poet is Maya Angelou.

However, thats not all. Google gives you a taste of even more #BlackExcellence by also featuring the most searched basketball dunk which is Michael Jordan, the most searched tennis player, which is of course, Serena Williams, the most searched gymnast Simone Biles and the most searched athlete Lebron James. Black ballerina Misty Copeland was also acknowledged.

As soon as the ad dropped, social media erupted with endless praise for Googles ad, as it shows just how much we as black people have accomplished and continue to accomplish in practically every industry in the country.

Following the extreme sadness of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryants passing due to a helicopter crash just hours before, Googles Black History ad came at the right time to attempt to bring some positivity to light.

Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
