According to Burns-Tucker, Governor Abbott and the Texas GOP are being accused of cutting corners to win the state’s midterm elections. The governor reportedly called a meeting to redraw the state’s congressional map.

“Texas republicans are being accused of cooking up a new district map so rigged, it should come with a warning label: ‘May contain traces of democracy,'” Burns-Tucker tells viewers.

Per the host, Rep. Jasmine Crockett was reportedly drawn out of the district she represents. Furthermore, Burns-Tucker adds that eight lawsuits have now been filed in response to the updates.

Additionally, according to the host, the new congressional map can increase Republican congressional power in Texas from 65% to nearly 83%. However, the group is reportedly claiming that their moves are all made in the name of politics and not out of racial motivation.

“They say redistricting is about partisan advantage, not race,” Burns-Tucker explains.
