Gucci Releases $770 ‘Grass-Stained’ Jeans As Part Of Its Fall Collection

TSR Fashion: Gucci has people looking at the fashion house sideways again with its newest offering for the fall. Gucci is currently selling some grass-stained looking jeans or as Gucci puts it, “eco washed organic denim pant,” for $770 a pair, Yahoo News reports.

The jeans are deliberately stained to look like you just rolled down a grassy hill or did some farm work. According to the product description, the high-end jeans are “specifically treated for a stained-like, distressed effect,” but I got some country cousins that could hook you up with that look for the fraction of the price if that’s what you’re into.

The grassy look doesn’t start and stop with those jeans, though. Gucci is also selling a pair of denim overalls that are similarly grass-stained for $1,400 on its U.S. website.

Now y’all know social media went in on Gucci for what people felt was overpriced denim, and to be honest, this is definitely not the first time Gucci has been accused of being out of touch (among other things).

Gucci had previously sparked backlash when it released its $870 pre-scuffed leather trainers. People have also ripped Gucci for the cost of their distressed denim.

But on a grander scale, Gucci has been threatened to be canceled a few times for what people considered racially insensitive attire like that of an all-black turtleneck that people felt resembled “blackface.”

Back in May of 2019, the luxury brand also faced backlash for selling a racially insensitive, $800 fashion turban that people accused the fashion brand of being racist toward Middle Eastern people.

Some people, like Lil’ Boosie, have kept Gucci on their canceled list. He recently harangued a bunch of shoppers for lining up outside of the Gucci store during the pandemic, yelling “Gucci doesn’t like Black people.”
