Halle Berry Files To Represent Herself In Her Divorce Case Against Ex Olivier Martinez

Halle Berry and her ex Olivier Martinez called it quits a few years ago, however, not all of the details in their divorce have been worked out just yet. Although their divorce was finalized in 2016, Halle recently filed to represent herself as they work to tie up some loose ends.

According to documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Halle filed to represent herself in the case, opposed to being represented by an attorney. Her former attorney Marina Zakiyan Beck signed off for the change on July 30th, and Halle signed on August 11th. Olivier will be represented by Laura Wasser.

Halle and Olivier originally filed for divorce back in 2015, after being married for two years. The former couple listed irreconcilable differences, and joint custody of their son, who is now 6-years-old.

Back in September 2016, the court issued an ultimatum as both Halle and Olivier failed to move forward with their divorce after initially filing. Later that year in December, it was reported that they finalized their divorce and that under the settlement, they would share joint custody of their son. However, in 2018, it was reported that another notice was issued to appear in court because the final custody agreement was reportedly never filed.

In the paperwork that was filed back in 2016, it was stated that they could claim “single” until all of the other matters were worked out. However, in 2019 they were sanctioned for missing a court hearing in their divorce case, meaning that not everything with their divorce has not been worked out.

When Halle and Olivier announced their divorce back in 2015, they said in a joint statement, “It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”

This is Halle’s third divorce, her first divorce from David Justice was finalized in 1997, and her divorce to Eric Benét was finalized in 2005.
