A Houston mom was reportedly found intoxicated on a sidewalk with her 2-month-old baby and 1-year-old child amid the recent winter storm.
On Tuesday, January 21, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a news update with citizens. Gonzalez explained that earlier that morning, his office “received a 911 call” reporting “an adult female and two babies… laying on the sidewalk.”
“Deputies responded and determined the babies were 2.months old and 1 year old,” Sheriff Gonzalez asserted in his initial tweet.
Furthermore, in a follow up tweet, the Sheriff stated that the mother “showed signs of intoxication
According to Sheriff Gonzalez, EMS officials arrived on the sign and treated the babies “who were suffering from cold-related injuries.”
Per USA Today, at the time of authorities’ arrival, they reportedly found “an open alcoholic beverage near” the mother. Subsequently, the Harris County District Attorneys Office was reportedly contacted by the Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, the district attorney’s office reportedly “accepted charges of endangering a child on the mother.”
Lastly, the outlet notes that the winter storm was a “once in a generation” weather event, bringing at least two inches of snow to the area.
As The Shade Room previously reported, a mother in New Mexico is also making headlines. Elizabeth Ortiz-Chavez has reportedly been charged with second-degree murder after initially letting her teenage son serve time for the murder of her daughter’s boyfriend.
The incident reportedly occurred in 2022 and domestic violence accusations.
