Iman Shumpert Had Teyana Taylor’s Fans SHOOK After Saying THIS About Her Met Gala Look

Whew! Roommates, Iman Shumpert had Teyana Taylor’s fans on defense on Monday (May 6). The former NBA player caused a commotion after publicly complimenting his estranged wife on her Met Gala slay.

Soon after celebrities began gracing the red carpet, Iman took to X (formerly Twitter) with indirect praise. He wrote, “Yeah, you ate…but I ain’t telling you that sh*t [crying face emoticon.]”

For context, Teyana STEPPED with an archival look by The Blonds NY. Taylor wore her hair in a platinum blond half-up, half-down style while her body was draped in a ruby-red mini gown with a long train. The bodice dress was covered in flowers, which seemed like a cute play on her ‘Rose In Harlem’ song. Note that she’s been attending the Met solo since 2021.

What Else Did Iman Seemingly Say About Teyana At The Met Gala?

Though he didn’t name-drop Teyana, fans quickly assumed that’s who he was speaking about. In his replies to several X posts, Iman Shumpert seemingly confirmed that. After someone responded, “Keep it 100” to his post, he replied, “Lol, it was a cute way to say she kilt it. But people don’t laugh enough in life [angel emoticon].”

Another confirmation that he was speaking on Taylor was a repost of a user describing his ex’s Met look. See what @iAmNoahsArk wrote below.

He also seemingly denied accusations of being a “hater” when he reposted someone’s reasoning about why he’s not. See @thatladyj’s post below.

When a separate user called him “messy,” Iman agreed but said he wasn’t here for the “wrong fits” getting all the love.

Another user labeled his “antics” 0/10, and he challenged her to name someone who looked better.

Meanwhile, Their Ongoing Court Proceedings Haven’t Been As Nice

His compliment served as a moment of light amid their tainted joint persona. Over the last few months, Iman and Teyana have slowly lost their “Black Love Goals” aura as media outlets continue to report on their divorce.

Teyana first confirmed their separation in September 2023 and denied reports that her “bestie” had been unfaithful in the marriage. The split appeared amicable, but that all changed in November. That’s when their divorce filing became public. In it, Teyana accused Iman of treating her “cruelly and [displayed] extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.” They both later released statements asking for privacy.

But their divorce updates have continued to dominate headlines — from claims of Iman shutting off their home utilities to him allegedly practicing negligent child care.

In March, her lawyer issued a statement clarifying a divorce filing that accused Shumpert of having a sleepover with another woman while caring for their daughters.

Her lawyer told The Shade Room that Teyana is “not worried nor concerned about who her ex is dating.” Her concern was “the safety of her kids, remaining aware of who is around them and what they’re exposed to, and ensuring neither party is being irresponsible or reckless.”
