Chantell Gardner, an Indiana mother, reportedly discovered her 2-year-old daughter, Skylar Gardner, dead after allegedly leaving her kids “every day” to stay with her boyfriend.
According to PEOPLE, Chantell alerted authorities that she discovered her daughter deceased under a dresser in her home on Saturday, January 25. Per Local 12, Chantell made the call around 6:30 p.m. Furthermore, she reportedly told cops that she found the 2-year-old after Skylar did not respond to her calls to come eat dinner.
Per the outlet, once police arrived, they discovered Chantell’s home to be “filled with filth, including trash, rotting food, feces, and stray knives.” Furthermore, Skylar’s body was reportedly covered in bruises and a puncture wound was noted on her neck.
Furthermore, Chantell Gardner reportedly admitted to police that she did not change her daughter’s diapers often. Additionally, the mother allegedly stated that the last time she gave the two-year-old a bath was earlier in the month.
Lastly, Chantell admitted she would leave Skylar with her 4-year-old son “for hours every day” and spend the nights at his home. Per the outlet, the mother would return to her home to bring food and drinks to her kids “once a day.”
Per PEOPLE, Chantell Gardner has been charged with “neglect of a dependent under the age of 14 resulting in death.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, a 20-year-old man is now behind bars in Florida. Justin Golden has been accused of placing an 8-month-old baby in the road. And then hitting the child with his car.
Per authorities, the child passed away from the incident. Now, authorities are reportedly working to determine Golden’s relation to the child.
