On Tuesday, June 16, Essence Magazine released its latest digital cover featuring Latto as its cover star. Furthermore, photos from the cover shoot showed the rapper dressed in various ensembles. In one look, Latto donned leggings and a wrap-tie shirt, sporting her natural curls. In another look, she donned an Alaia wrap shirt and wavy hair.

Some internet users slid into TSR’s comment section and mentioned Nicki Minaj in their reactions to Latto’s cover photos. To note, they appeared to be referencing the pair’s 2022 spat, where Minaj told Latto she thought she was “35.”

In her cover story with Essence Magazine, Latto discussed motherhood and postpartum, revealing that she’s just “taking it day by day.”
“Some days are better than others, but overall I’m doing well. She gave me more drive if anything. And I have so much help her dad, her grandmas, we have a whole village. I wouldn’t say it’s postpartum depression, but postpartum itself is definitely a day by day thing,” she explained.
As for who gave her the best advice to prepare for motherhood, Latto credited Sexyy Red.
“She was saying my life is about to change in the best way possible. ‘It’s scary the change is so big that it is scary but you got this.’ She said keep your head up through postpartum because it wasn’t easy for her and she hoped it would be better for me. And she said, ‘Your baby is going to make you go way harder. Watch,'” Latto recalled.
