Roommates, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has finally come forward to speak on the death of Qasem Soleimani, and it’s safe to say, he isn’t too thrilled about it. As we previously reported, Donald Trump was apparently taking a proactive approach in ordering the airstrike that took Qasem’s life, which Rouhani says was a “grave mistake”.
According to CNN, President Rouhani says the mistake of killing Qasem will have consequences. He says that Americans “will face the consequences of this criminal act not only today, but also in the coming years.”
His comments came on the same day citizens gathered to mourn Qasem, and video has surfaced of people in Iraq chanting “Death To America” at his funeral procession. They also gathered in memory of an Iraqi militia leader who died with him.
“The Americans did understand what grave mistake they committed,” Rouhani said, according to a statement released by his office.
The strike reportedly killed Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and six other people.
President trump said he ordered the death of Soleimani, one of Iran’s most powerful men, to present a war from starting. But, it looks like he may have been wrong. Trump was under the impression that Soleimani was plotting “imminent and sinister attacks” on Americans.
Now, Americans are preparing for a possible World War 3, as thousands of U.S. troops are being deployed to the Middle East. Initially, the U.S. deployment number accounted for around 750 troops. That number has now increased to about 3,000 due to the airstrike that killed Qasem.
The Pentagon is blaming Soleimni for hundreds of deaths of Americans and their allies saying, “General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region.”
Stay with us as the story continues to develop, Roomies, and keep our troops in your prayers!
