Issa Rae Is The New Voice Of The Google Assistant

Issa Rae is a very busy woman these days. Not only is she currently hard at work on the highly-anticipated fourth season of her hit HBO series “Insecure,” but she also has a host of film and television projects in the works. Now, she’s giving you the opportunity to feel closer to her than ever before courtesy of Google.

First, we had Samuel L. Jackson as the voice of Alexa and now we have Issa Rae as the voice of…the Google Assistant! That’s right, it’s just been announced that Issa is the latest celebrity to lend their voice to the Google Assistant feature. She’s in good company because earlier this year, singer John Legend also did the same.

According to @Complex, Issa’s voice in the Google Assistant will be able to read the weather, news, and tell jokes. Additionally, she will also offer “motivational messages” and users will be able to access a number of Issa’s unique sayings upon selecting her voice. To access it, all you have to do is either change the voice in your assistant settings or by simply saying, “Hey Google, talk like Issa.”

Among the questions that will prompt some hilarious responses are, “Do I need an umbrella today?” and “Tell me a secret.” To make sure that you get as much of Issa as possible, her voice will be available on any device that has Google Assistant, including Google Home and Smart Display devices, made possible by speech synthesis technology WaveNet.

You can get Issa’s voice as the Google Assistant for a limited time in the U.S. right now.

Roommates, will you be trying this out?
