Roommates, it looks like J. Cole had a change of heart regarding the alleged feud with Kendrick Lamar. While performing at his Dreamville Fest, Cole backtracked on dissing his rap brother’s music and seemingly offered an apology.
The move comes after Kendrick seemingly took shots at Drake and J. Cole on ‘Like That,’ and Cole added fuel to the fire by releasing ‘7 Minute Drill.’
In a video obtained by BET, J. Cole spoke on what the world wants to see between him and Kendrick. In his words, that’s “blood” and he’s not here for it.
“The world wants to see blood. So I say that to say in my spirit of trying to get this music out, I ain’t gon lie to y’all, I moved in a way that I feel, spiritually, feels bad on me. I tried to like jab my n***a back, and I tried to keep it friendly but at the end of the day, when I listen to it, and it comes out and I see the talk, that sh*t don’t sit right with my spirit.”
He added that this type of energy “disrupts [his] peace.” So, because of that, Cole took the very public moment to walk back the beef-like vibes. He admitted to trying to “find a lil angle” and “downplaying” Kendrick’s music catalog and “greatness.”
“How many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest motherf**kers to ever to touch a f**king mic? Dreamville y’all love Kendrick Lamar correct? As do I. So, I just want to come up here and publicly be like bruh that was the lamest, goofiest sh*t to me…it made me feel like 10 years ago when I was moving incorrectly.”
Cole says he prays that God aligns him with his purpose and path and that Lamar doesn’t truly feel a way about his clapback. In Cole’s words, “it’s love.”
“The past two days felt terrible, it let me know how good I been sleeping for the past 10 years,” he said before performing ‘Love Yourz.’
Sorry, Jill Scott, but it looks like the “delicious” rap beef is overat least on J. Cole’s end! But, to be clear, there’s no word yet on whether Kendrick is here for the unity and peace vibes or still seeking smoke.

J. Cole acknowledging Kendrick’s “greatness” is a lil’ bit of a switch-up after he tore up his music in ‘7 Minute Drill.’ In the track, he implied that Kendrick “fell off,” has “one hard verse like every thirty months.” He did admit to feeling “hesitant” to reply to a “brother” he has “love” for. But still went on to slam his last few albums, calling one of them boring and another “tragic.”
While Cole threw a couple of logs in the fire, it was really Kendrick who built the pit and added the ignitor fluid! In ‘Like That,’ Kendrick referenced Drake and Cole’s ‘First Person Shooter’ collab, seemingly indicating it needed more work.
Meanwhile, Drake has been quiet in the studio about Kendrick’s alleged diss, but the shots on social media and on his tour have been touching hoops!
