J. Cole Reportedly Set To Sign A Deal To Play Basketball In Rwanda

TSR We Global: J.Cole is a Grammy award-winning rapper, but he has never abandoned his dreams of playing professional basketball. Y’all have seen him show off his ball skills in pick-up games with some of the biggest NBA stars including Carmelo Anthony and Trae Young, and it looks like he’s taking those talents to Africa!

According to ESPN, J.Cole is expected to sign a deal with the Rwanda Patriots BBC of the Basketball Africa League. Sources have confirmed that Cole arrived in Rwanda two days ago and is currently in quarantine to prepare for the upcoming season.

If y’all recall, J.Cole was a walk on during his time at St. John’s University, but shifted his focus to music before he could step foot non the court.

The news is certainly shocking, especially considering J. Cole just announced that his new album is on the way. Master P, however, revealed back in August 2020 that Cole was training rigorously in hopes of making it onto an NBA roster.

When I talked to J. Cole, he was like ‘You know, big dog you did it. What do you think I would have to do to make it happen?’ I said to get one of these NBA jerseys, it’s not gonna be easy,” Master P said. “It’s gonna be a lot of hate, it’s gonna be a lot of people not believing in you but you know J. Cole — he got the right size, he in the gym!

ESPN reports that Cole is expected to officially sign the deal on Thursday, and the team is expected to play its first game on Sunday against the Nigera River Hoopers.
