Jason Mitchell To Executive Produce & Star As Sean Bell In Upcoming Biopic ‘50 Shots’

It looks like Jason Mitchell has landed himself yet another groundbreaking role. This time he will be starring as Sean Bell in the upcoming biopic “50 Shots.”

The film is written and produced by Tru of TruVision Films, and aside from starring in the film, which is in pre-production, Jason will also serve as an executive producer.

For those who are not familiar with Sean Bell’s story, he was shot and killed by New York City police officers back in 2006 in Queens, NY. The shooting took place the morning before Sean Bell’s wedding when officers fired a total of 50 rounds killing Bell, and severely wounding two of his friends, Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman.

Sean Bell’s family is heavily involved with the film. Jason Mitchell has even posed in a few photos with Sean Bell’s father, William Bell.

You guys know that Jason Mitchell is no stranger when it comes to portraying prominent figures on film.

Back in 2015, he starred as Eazy-E in the box office hit “Straight Outta Compton,” which helped catapult his career.

Last year, Jason was fired from the hit series “The Chi,” on Showtime where he had a starring role. The show’s third season, which is currently in the process of airing on television, started off the season with announcing the death of Jason’s character Brandon.

His termination from the show came after he was faced with misconduct allegations. As we exclusively reported last October, following the allegations, Jason enrolled in counseling for personal development.
