Wedding bells may be in the distance for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his girlfriend of four years, Lauren Sanchez. According to TMZ, it has been confirmed that Bezos and Sanchez are recently engaged.
The event arrives almost four years after Bezos and his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott finalized their divorce after 25 years of marriage, as per PEOPLE.
According to TMZ, Bezos popped the big question to Sanchez, an Emmy-award-winning journalist, while the two were sailing the seas of Europe on his $500 million “superyacht” last week. Sanchez reportedly said yes.
Then, this week, photos surfaced of her rocking a “huge” ring on her engagement finger.
Page Six also reportedly confirmed the news with an “insider close to the couple.”
Additionally, the pair were spotted in the South of France at the Cannes Film Festival Monday night. According to the Daily Mail, this was the first time the couple had been photographed since news of their engagement was reported.
During the public appearance, Bezos and Sanchez seemed to feed engagement speculation as they matched in white.
According to Daily Mail, Sanchez’s engagement ring is believed to be 20 carats.
According to Page Six, Bezos and Sanchez began dating in 2018. The couple reportedly kept a “low profile” until Bezos’ divorce from his ex-wife Mackenzie Scott was finalized in 2019.
However, the courtship between Bezos and Sanchez was not without reported scandal. According to Page Six, Scott became aware of Bezos’ ongoing relationship with Sanchez when she discovered “racy” text messages exchanged between the two in 2018.
Bezos then filed for divorce from his wife in January 2019. According to Daily Mail, Sanchez also split from her then-husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell. The outlet also reported that Whitesell initially introduced Bezos and Sanchez to one another.
Since then, Bezos and Sanchez’s relationship appears to be going strong. On Valentine’s Day, Sanchez shared a picture of her and Bezos and explained that her heart was “full.”
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez have yet to confirm the engagement speculation with a statement.
