Jennifer Hudson Set To Perform Kobe Bryant Tribute At NBA All-Star Game

The tributes for late NBA legend Kobe Bryant continue to pour in two weeks after his tragic passing in a helicopter crash, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. As the NBA All-Star Game is on the horizon, it has officially been announced that Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute for Kobe during the game.

The NBA is preparing to honor Kobe Bryant in a major way during the upcoming All-Star Game—and Jennifer Hudson is perhaps the biggest part of it all. @ENews reports, Jennifer will perform a special tribute song for Kobe to kick off the game just before the player introductions. As of right now, the NBA is keeping the song that she will be performing under wraps.

However, that’s just one way that Kobe will be honored at the All-Star Game. Members of Lebron James’ team will all wear jerseys with the No. 2 in honor of Gigi Bryant and members of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team will wear No. 24 in honor of Kobe. Lebron, who was close friends with Kobe, previously said his 5-year-old daughter Zhuri inspired his decision to wear Gigi’s number.

In addition to Jennifer’s performance, the NBA also announced that Chaka Khan will perform the national anthem at the game—while Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled and Quavo will perform during the halftime show.

As we previously reported, Kobe and Gigi were laid to rest in a private funeral service last week attended by family and close friends. The public memorial for Kobe will take place on Monday, February 24th, at Staples Center, which is home to the Los Angeles Lakers, the team where Kobe played for his entire NBA career.

The NBA All-Star Game airs Sunday, February 16th at 8PM EST on TNT.
