Jhene Aiko Reportedly Facing Legal Action In Connection To 2022 Car Accident

A woman has reportedly sued Jhene Aiko for rear-ending her car in an incident that took place in 2022.

The Blast obtained court documents that reveal the ‘Back To The Streets’ singer was involved in a car crash in July of that year.

Jhene Aiko’s Car Collision Explained

Genelle Ligot, who filed the legal paperwork this week, claims that the accident, which occurred in Encino, California, was due to Aiko’s alleged negligence.

Ligot had stopped her car when she reached a red traffic light. However, she felt the impact as Aiko rear-ended her car, which she alleges left her with noticeable injuries.

“[Ligot] was stopped at a traffic light when [Aiko] struck [her] from behind. Due to the negligent actions of [Aiko] while operating the motor vehicle, [Ligot] was injured in health, strength, and activity.”

While the accident took place almost two years ago, Ligot claims that the injuries directly affected not just her health but also her pockets. Ligot says she even had to foot her own medical bills.

Additionally, the plaintiff claims to have lost wages and “loss of use of property. She blames Aiko for her loss of earning capacity and property damage.

Ligo has now requested a judge to make Aiko pay an undisclosed amount in damages and insists on taking the case to a jury trial.

This wasn’t the first time Aiko had been involved in a collision on the road.

This Isn’t The First Car Accident Aiko Has Been Involved In

In August 2013, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed she and her daughter, Namiko, were left injured following a “bad car accident.”

While she didn’t go into specifics, Aiko did share with her fans that the collision was bad enough that it left her with a chipped tooth.

The 35-year-old also complained of having suffered a broken wrist and that her chin had needed stitches, too.

“thank u all for the prayers . I get to go home …. just a broken wrist , chipped tooth and stitches in my chin,” she tweeted at the time, per Rap-Up.

“most importantly Nami is ok , not a scratch … as she was also in the car , in the backseat with me . I’m also thankful that @sonnieoryan and @miyokochilombo are ok also ! Be safe out there everybody and thank u again for the love.”

Aiko has yet to respond to the recent lawsuit filed against her.
