Whew chile, the back-tracking. If youre a long-time fan of Love & Hip Hop then you no doubt remember Chrissy Lampkin pressuring boyfriend Jim Jones multiple times to marry her, even going so far as to propose to him back in 2011. Well, based on the most recent episode of the series, it appears that she has changed her mind about tying the knot.
Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin have been together almost two decades at this point without getting married and seeing most of their friends jump the broom instead. Since they have returned to VH1s Love & Hip Hop for the first time in several years, the two are letting viewers in on whats been going on in their lives lately.
One thing that wont be going on is marriageat least according to Chrissy. In the latest episode of the show, Jim decides to make dinner for Chrissy for the very first time in the 16 years theyve been together. As they enjoy the meal, Jim brings up the prospect of getting married and looked genuinely surprised when Chrissy stated that shes not interested in it anymore.
She elaborated on her feelings, telling Jim this:
From inception, people have always had something to say about our relationship. Its partly my fault because I proposed to you. After that proposal, we didnt get married because we werent ready and youve asked for marriage after that and I wasnt ready. Were still together. We have a crazy bond, nobody can tear it apart. Weve been together, what? A million years? And if marriage never happens, I dont feel a way about it anymore because marriage doesnt complete us.
However, Jim had a different opinion and told Chrissy:
But I do want to get married. I believe every woman whos in love or is in a strong relationship that we are deserves to have that.
Apparently, that wasnt enough to convince her and she followed up saying:
I dont feel that way, and I know that sounds crazy. In the beginning, I thought that was the end-all, be-all. I thought that was natural progression. But at this point, what is that going to change for us? I just want you to know, Im with you. If it aint broke, dont fix it. I know people that get married and then divorced in a year. They get it annulled in six months. Were fine the way we are. I just think a marriage will put extra pressure, and I just dont want to put those types of demands on our relationship anymore so right now were not on the same page about marriage, and thats okay. S**t, we aint been on the same page about that ever.
Naturally, many on social media werent buying Chrissys reasoning for not wanting to marry Jim.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
