Joe Biden Accepts The Democratic Nomination For The Presidency

Bringing the star-studded, four-day convention to a close, former Vice President Joe Biden officially accepted the Democratic nomination for the presidency.

“Who we are as a nation, what we stand for, and who we want to be — that’s on the ballot this November,” Biden tweeted shortly after the grand spectacle came to a close.

In the passionately delivered speech, Biden criticized Trump’s leadership and reassured Americans that if elected, he’d be a president for everyone, not just those who support him.

“Our current President has failed in his most basic duty to the nation. He has failed to protect us, he has failed to protect America,” Biden said.

“This is not a partisan moment. This must be an American moment,” he said, as he looked directly into the camera to tell voters he was running to reclaim the country’s character at a time of darkness. “This campaign isn’t just about winning votes, it is about winning the heart and, yes, the soul of America.”

As the man of the evening, Biden was lauded by speakers who talked about his leadership and character. During the course of his speech, however, Biden used some of his time to take Trump to task over the way he’s handled the pandemic, according to CNN.

“The President keeps telling us the virus is going to disappear. He keeps waiting for a miracle,” Biden said. “Well, I have news for him: no miracle is coming. We lead the world in confirmed cases. We lead the world in deaths. Our economy is in tatters, with Black, Latino, Asian American and Native American communities bearing the brunt of it.”
One of the more warmer moments of the evening was when Joe Biden’s late son, Beau Biden’s speech about his father played from. a previous convention. Beau passed away from cancer five years ago.
Overall, Joe Biden has been back by the Obamas, his running mate Kamala Harris and many of his former opponents in the race.
Just a reminder that no matter how you’re voting, now would be a good time to make sure you’re registered, Roomies.
