Joe Budden Says He Is Leaving Spotify Due To The Streaming Service “Undermining And Undervaluing” His Popular Podcast

#Roommates, Joe Budden has one of the most popular podcasts on Spotify—but apparently that match-up could soon be coming to an end. According to recent reports, Joe Budden is said to be so unhappy with Spotify, that he is officially leaving the streaming service next month.

@Variety reports, popular podcast host, cultural commentator, former reality star and rapper Joe Budden recently made the shocking announcement that he will be leaving Spotify following the highly successful two-year run of his “The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory and Mal.” Joe claims that Spotify is “pillaging” his audience and added that his show has been continuously “undermined and undervalued.”

In his most recent podcast episode on August 26th, Joe Budden went into specific details explaining his deal with the company, while also stating that he will no longer be on Spotify when his exclusive contract expires next month — which translates to only about seven more episodes. “September 23rd, I cannot tell you where this podcast will be. But as it stands, I can tell you where it will not be, and that is Spotify,” he said.

Joe continued, stating that Spotify never put the care into his show the way he would have liked, stating “Spotify never cared about this podcast individually. Spotify only cared about our contribution to the platform. You pillage the audience from the podcast, and you’ve continued to pillage each step of the way without any regard.”

Joe Budden compared the allegedly shady business practices of Spotify to his past dealings within the music industry, where artists are frequently financially exploited. He initially launched his podcast in early 2015, before he brought it exclusively to Spotify under a deal in August 2018.

Meanwhile, a Spotify rep declined to comment, saying talks with Joe were “ongoing.”
