Justin Timberlake’s Publishing Company Being Sued Over Suit & Tie!

An R&B group is suing Universal Music Group with claims that Justin Timberlake’s hit Suit & Tie is a “rip off” of their original song. Sure this happens all the time, but this song holds some serious sentimental value!

Two members of the group Sly, Slick and Wicked filed the lawsuit, citing that “Suit & Tie” samples their song, “Sho’ Nuff”. It was released back in 1973 and was produced by none other than the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, they even performed it on Soul Train! While the group members admit that UMG paid to sample the song, TMZ is reporting that the publishing company never got the rights to the vocal performances in the song.

Unfortunately, that’s not the only area where they feel overlooked. Remember, now, Suit & Tie was a mega hit and it had even scored a BudLight commercial. Sly, Slick and Wicked allege that they didn’t receive any coins from that deal either! That song has almost 100 million views on YouTube and has sold over 3 million copies, so thats definitely adding insult to injury!

Hopefully some type of resolution is found soon! Take a listen to Sly Slick & Wick’s “Sho Nuff” below and lets chat!
