Kanye West Congratulates Kamala Harris As Vice President Nominee–Looks Forward To Running Against Her

Kanye West’s 2020 presidential bid hasn’t taken off without a hitch, but he is still persevering. Though he has been removed from the Illinois and New Jersey ballot, the rapper is still in the running in hopes of becoming president. On Saturday, Yeezy welcomed the newly selected vice president nominee Kamala Harris. In an tweet shared with a photo of her as a young child he tweeted,

“I know my mom and Kamala Harris would have been friends … congratulations on being the democratic Vice President nominee… all love and respect from the future president. It’s an honor to run against you.”

As we previously reported, Joe Biden announced last Tuesday that Kamala Harris would be his running mate.

“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris – a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants – as my running mate,” Biden tweeted about the California senator who was once his opponent for the Democratic nomination.

The announcement is historic as it makes Kamala Harris the first Black AND South Asian American woman to run on a major political party’s presidential ticket.

Biden continued,

“Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched as they took on the big banks, lifted up working people, and protected women and kids from abuse. I was proud then, and I’m proud now to have her as my partner in this campaign.”

Kamala responded in part, “I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make  him our Commander-In-Chief.
