Kanye West’s Initial Request Of Nicki Minaj

On Wednesday, December 13, Kanye West returned to X, formerly known as Twitter. Then, the following evening, the rapper took to the platform to share a tweet with a screenshot of what appears to be a text message he sent to Minaj.

“Hi it’s ye… May I call you about clearing new body on the new album,” the text message read.

Additionally, West captioned his tweet by tagging Minaj’s X account.

As The Shade Room previously reported, West held a listening rave earlier this week. During the event, he played what appears to be the final version of ‘New Body’ with Minaj’s verse.

According to Page Six, Minaj recorded her verse on the song in 2018. Additionally, the outlet reports that Minaj’s ‘New Body’ verse was inspired by West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. Kardashian also helped coordinate Minaj’s presence on the song in a clip captured while recording her former reality show, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians.’

According to Page Six, as the years followed, Minaj recorded “three different verses” for the track. However, she and West drifted apart in “seeing eye to eye” on its creation.

West never officially released the track, although snippets of Minaj’s verse went viral online.

Social Media Mirrors Nicki Minaj’s Reaction To Kanye West’s Request

Minaj apparently took to Instagram Live following West’s request. During the stream, the 41-year-old responded to the fellow rapper.

“Now, regarding Kanye… chile,” Minaj began. “That train has left the station, okay? No disrespect, in any way, [but] I just put out a brand new album,” the rapper continued, referring to ‘Pink Friday 2‘ released last week. “Now, why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on, guys.”

“She said get somebody else to do it”
While Instagram user @daniel.hdzz added.

“I love that response, I’m gone start using that ! ‘Chilee THAT TRAIN, has left the Station beloved’ 😂”
According to Page Six, the release of West and Ty Dolla $ign’s album may be delayed by Minaj’s decision not to bar her verse from the project.
