Karl Anthony Towns Reveals That He Tested Positive For COVID-19

Roommates, although many hoped that the new year would bring less cases of COVID-19, that sadly hasn’t happened yet—and NBA star Karl Anthony Towns is the latest to be infected. In a lengthy, heartfelt post on social media, Karl Anthony Towns revealed that he just tested positive for COVID-19.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl Anthony Towns has been hit especially hard by COVID-19 and now he is the direct recipient. He lost his mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns (who died at 59) on April 13th last year from complications of the virus after she had only been diagnosed a month prior.  Karl has also previously stated that six of his other family members have also died from complications of the virus.

He wrote the following message on Instagram:

“Prior to tonight’s game, I received yet another awful call that I tested positive for COVID. I will immediately isolate and follow every protocol. I pray every day that this nightmare of a virus will subside and I beg everyone to continue to take it seriously by taking all the necessary precautions… It breaks my heart that my family, and particularly my father and sister continue to suffer from the anxiety that comes along with this diagnosis as we know all too well what the end result could be. To my niece and nephew, Jolani and Max, I promise you I will not end up in a box next to grandma and I will beat this.”

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced earlier that tonight’s game had been postponed because of contact tracing in the Timberwolves’ organization. There is also no word if Karl Anthony Towns’ girlfriend Jordyn Woods has been tested following his diagnosis.

We want to send him our thoughts and prayers.
