Keke Palmer is proof that listening to your elders is never a bad idea. The ‘Nope’ actress recently revealed that actor Whoopi Goldberg was the source of some life-changing bedroom advice for the young star, as reported by TooFab.
In the latest episode of Palmer’s podcast, “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer,” the 29-year-old shared that one piece of advice from Goldberg completed altered her relationship with her own sexuality.
According to Palmer, the 67-year-old Goldberg advised her to “start with pleasing yourself.” The conversation occurred during a taping of an episode of ‘The View.’
“Ill never forget, I was on ‘The View’ one time, and they were having a conversation about sex, a really great conversation, and Whoopi Goldberg said, ‘Please just start with pleasing yourself.’ And I was like, ‘That rings true.’
During the episode, Palmer revealed that prior to receiving Goldberg’s advice, she always prioritized her partner’s sexual satisfaction over her own.
My identity with sex, it was always based upon, ‘Oh, I just got to do this service.’That was, like, depressing and not enough because, well, I realized, like, ‘Well, wait a damn minute This isn’t you!’ So, it was a journey of trying to figure out what works for me.
Palmer also revealed that her earlier understanding of sex was largely influenced by “porn simulation.” She believed that sexual encounters should mimic those seen on video, but never truly “had a happy ending from it.” Instead, Palmer has realized that “more demure,” calmer, and more “emotional” sexual encounters satisfy her best.
In my daily life, I’m very performative. I’m giving you everything I’ve got and I’m going in and what I did learn and realize as I matured was like, that’s absolutely not the kind of sex that I want to have.
Aside from the sex talk, Palmer and Goldberg made headlines last year when Palmer joined ‘The View’ and told Goldberg she was more than eager to join the cast of ‘Sister Act 3,’ as reported by The Shade Room.
