Kenosha Police Officer Who Shot & Paralyzed Jacob Blake Has Returned To Work And Will Not Face Further Discipline

#Roommates, on the heels of the current Derek Chauvin murder trial for the death of George Floyd and the recent devastating shooting death of Daunte Wright—there is a heartbreaking update in the case of Jacob Blake, who was shot last August in Kenosha, Wisconsin. According to new reports, Rusten Sheskey, who shot Jacob Blake seven times, has officially returned to work following administrative leave and will not face any further discipline for his actions.

@NBCNews reports, the Kenosha, Wisconsin Police Department recently announced that Rusten Sheskey has once again returned to work despite shooting Jacob Blake seven times and leaving him paralyzed from the waist down back in August 2020. Sheskey officially returned from administrative leave in late March, though his return was just made public. Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis said via statement that Sheskey was “found to have been acting within policy and will not be subjected to discipline.”

The decision to allow Sheskey to return to his job as a police officer and escape any additional discipline was made following an outside investigation and independent expert review. Chief Miskinis explained the investigation, saying “Although this incident has been reviewed at multiple levels, I understand that some will not be pleased with the outcome; however, given the facts, it was the only lawful and appropriate decision to be made.”

You’ll recall that Sheskey was also never charged in the shooting of Jacob Blake and back in January. Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley, said that Sheskey and the other officers would have had a strong case for self-defense if they were charged for their actions against Blake. “If you don’t believe you can prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt, you have an ethical obligation not to issue charges,” he said.

As we previously reported late last month, Jacob Blake has filed a federal lawsuit against Rusten Sheskey with the help of his legal team led by attorney Benjamin Crump.
