Keri Hilson On Beyoncé Regrets, “It’s Britney B*tch” Origin, Erasing Her “Rihanna” Tattoo & More | SITSR (Exclusive)

On this episode of ‘Stepping Into The Shade Room,’ singer and songwriter Keri Hilson is sitting down with host Thembi to discuss the biggest moments of her career, working with Britney Spears, career regrets, her infamous Beyonc diss track, and her “Rihanna” tattoo. Furthermore, she opens up about why she stepped away from music for over a decade, why she’s returned, a long-awaited collaboration, and more.

Keri Hilson Talks Erasing Her “Rihanna” Tattoo

About four minutes into her sit-down with Thembi, Keri Hilson opened up about lasering off a Rihanna-style tattoo. Specifically, Hilson revealed that she had gotten a tattoo on her neck. But she later erased it because it reminded her of a tattoo on Rihanna.

“It was too close, it was like same place, and same type of thing,” she said, revealing that it was a Roman numeral of her favorite number. “At the time, it was like, ‘Ahh, she might feel like I’m encroaching on her territory I don’t like even being an accidental or inadvertent copycat.”

Hilson added that she ended up removing the tattoo “immediately.”

She Also Speaks On Beyonc Diss

Around the 16-minute mark of the conversation, Hilson opened up about her career regrets. Specifically, she referenced lyrics written for her that appeared to diss Beyonc. Per PEOPLE, the lyrics were included on Keri Hilson’s 2009 ‘Turnin’ Me On’ remix track, and said Beyonc needed to “move it to the left.” In April, she told the outlet she was “forced to sing them.”

“I don’t think it really mattered to her like that,” Hilson told Thembi. “And I like to believe that she understands especially now, that it was not my doing. It was not my idea… I just like to think that she has that kind of vision.”

Furthermore, Hilson explained that she’s never personally tried to reach out to Bey.
